Snake 2k slithers onto your Nokia Lumia
The Nokia Snake game is a classic. Many people growing up in the 90s will remember hours spent playing it. For fans of this iconic Nokia retro-game, there’s now another version you can play right on your Nokia Lumia. Snake 2k is a replica of the Snake game that came preloaded on the Nokia 3310 in the early 2000s. Grab it today.

Snake 2k is built upon the same design principle that Snake ’97 is (created by the same developer). The touchscreen of your Nokia Lumia is transformed into a very realistic classic Nokia phone. In this instance, it’s the Nokia 3310.

The top part of your screen becomes the small green screen, merely an inch or so in size, and the rest of your touchscreen becomes a T9 keypad surrounded by the blue and grey case of the Nokia 3310.

As any fan of this version of Nokia Snake will know, there were 8 labyrinths to choose from. For those who just like to roam freely around a screen with no obstacles, there’s the empty screen. For those who prefer a challenge, we’d suggest labyrinth level 5. Good luck dodging those obstacles.

The controls are simple. Using the virtual T9 keypad, you navigate your snake in four directions: up, down, left, and right and by using the keys: 2, 4, 6, and 8.

If a dot (food) appears on for screen, eat it up to make your snake longer. There will also be little critters appearing from time-to-time, too, that must be eaten. These vanish after a few seconds, though, so be quick to gobble them up.

With the consumption of each black dot comes the monophonic, yet satisfyingly familiar tones we were all used to in the late 90s and early 2000s.

Eventually, your snake will become gorged with food and will become too long to control, or even fit on your screen. This usually spells game over unless you’re extraordinarily skilled or spent most of the 90s honing your skills.

Snake 2k is available from the Windows Phone Marketplace and costs just £0.79. It’s available for the Nokia Lumia 610, Nokia Lumia 710, Nokia Lumia 800 and the Nokia Lumia 900.
