Today the world finally got to see the latest stunning addition to the Nokia Lumia family. The Nokia Lumia 1020 has zoomed smartphone photography to whole new incredible level and shown exactly why the Nokia Lumia range of smartphones is the most innovative on the planet. Unsurprisingly, we’ve already fallen head over heels in love with the Nokia Lumia 1020, but what about the rest of the world? To see for yourself, check out what some of tech’s biggest hitters have to say about the 41 megapixel marvel.
At first blush, it’s impressive. The 1020 is handsome and sleek, rounded and not quite so boxy and large as some of the other Lumia phones we’ve seen…We’ve been shooting photos with the 1020 non-stop, and so far we’re really impressed. The camera app is pretty fast, though changing settings can lag occasionally, but it’s mostly really responsive — and the pictures we’ve taken here at Pier 92 look awesome.
Nokia didn’t hold back with the 1020 and its shows: The device can take truly remarkable pictures that seem to have unmatched color and clarity. Despite such a large sensor, the Lumia 1020 isn’t like the Galaxy S4 Zoom, meaning it doesn’t have a large bulge on its rear. In fact, it fit comfortably in my pocket.
The Nokia Pro Camera might actually be just as much of a big deal as the camera itself. The dial controls are magnificent, and actually great UX… All around, though, this thing is really great…it’ll be a wonderful thing to carry around at all times in your bag.
Analysts who have tested the device said that it was “without doubt” the best smartphone camera on the market.
With its 41-megapixel camera, Nokia’s Lumia 1020 absolutely brings the wow factor, proving that Nokia can innovate in its own way, that it is a mobile force to be reckoned with.
The hardware seems well-crafted, the Windows Phone experience is incredibly smooth, and that longstanding app gap is finally starting to close (albeit slowly). I can’t pass judgment until I actually play with the final device, but so far it seems like that camera is just icing on a cake that’s already pretty damned delicious.
Still, just from a brief play with it, it’s clear that Nokia is offering something unique among today’s smartphones. The ability to zoom massively into photos and still get crisp images is incredible, and something that rivals like Samsung are having to fit huge optical zooms – on handsets like the Galaxy S4 Zoom – to achieve similar.
As expected, the hardware’s a beauty on this thing. There’s that slick unibody design we’ve come to expect from recent Lumia devices, and in spite of amped up optics, the company hasn’t really done too much to sacrifice weight and profile.
The Nokia 808 PureView finally has a worthy successor – the Nokia Lumia 1020 is the culmination of Nokia’s continuous efforts to redefine smartphone photography. The company was the first to launch a massive 41MP image sensor, do optical stabilization in a phone and use high-dynamic range mics and the Lumia 1020 has it all under one roof.
We really, really like the Lumia 1020 as a device. Yes, it’s more camera than phone, but the balance is a lot more even than before, and it will really appeal to all of those who want to make sure they get the best out of their everyday memories.
The Nokia Pro Camera app is incredibly easy to use and it is remarkably simple to change settings without getting the user bogged down in settings. It’s strange, as you are actually given a lot of control over what kind of photos you can take. We like it a lot, we love the power of the camera and the Nokia’s hardware is second to none.
Happily, it looks like we’re not the only ones who’ve been blown away by the Nokia Lumia 1020, but what about you? Are you as awestruck as the rest of us? Let us known in the comments below.
